Why do people sit and look around while sitting on exercise equipment at the gym?
When I’m working out, I usually move from one set of equpment to the next. Why are these people just sitting on the weight benches looking around at other people? Are they bored, or tired from working out? Don’t they know other’s are waiting to use the equipment too?
Resting between repetitions allows the muscles to restore their natural balance before the next rep. The heavier the weights, the longer the rest period. A rest can last from one minute up to six minutes. This helps with muscle fatigue and provides for a more efficient workout. If you are not resting between reps, you should be. Also, you can ask to ‘work in’ with someone who is doing multiple reps. You can do your reps while they rest and vice verse.
